I arrived back in Washington, D.C. late Monday night and jumped back into running on Tuesday with a 13 miler in 78 degree heat. On the Fourth of July, I ran a 5K. I planned to do another middle distance run on Saturday to keep my mileage up but changed my mind.

July. The one month in the year when I’m not training for anything! After finishing the 2019 Cleveland Marathon in early May, I took a few days off and then started running regularly again. I ran the 2019 Maryland Half Marathon in early June and then steadily increased my running mileage the next week and the week after. Two days before the race, I returned to Washington, D.C. after spending the weekend in California for my high school reunion. I ran close to 13 miles on Tuesday morning, followed by 6 easy miles on Wednesday.
