2020 started optimistically! In December, I joined an online group to train for the 2020 Boston Marathon and was starting to feel better after a disappointing 2019 New York City Marathon.

2020 Runners Run Marathon
I was having a rough training cycle, so when both the Boston Marathon and London Marathon were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was disappointed but also slightly relieved that I wouldn’t have two struggle-fests this spring. But, I knew I would “run anyway” as I did after the 2012 New York City Marathon was canceled.

2020 Boston Marathon – Week 11
My goal for the 2020 Boston Marathon switched to re-qualifying for next year’s race with a sub-3:50 (8:47 pace). This week, I went downtown for my long run to lift my spirit and it worked – I crushed my workouts on Tuesday and Thursday!

2020 Boston Marathon – Week 7
At this stage in my training cycle, my routine felt locked in. On Sunday, I did a long run followed by a hill workout on Tuesday. A short marathon-pace workout filled out the week but I missed my goal.
